Wednesday September 30, 2009... 26 teachers were paid for the first time in 6 months. What a privilege to be part of something so wonderful! Who would have guessed in just 11 months ago we would have gained the trust and support of many people who believe in such a wonderful cause. The teachers of of COLLEGE SUR LE ROCHER thank you from the bottom of their hearts. We are still in need a teacher sponsorship. We had a reserve of money from donations that had come in, which allowed us to send a "good faith" donation toward these teachers salaries. We still have work to do. While our 501C3 is still in the works, Our Saviour's United Methodist Church has agreed to open a separate account for all Haiti donations. A completely separate accounting ledger will be kept of all transactions made toward this Haiti mission. In order to maintain transparency and accountability we are available to answer any questions you may have. Be assured, all donations will be given to the appropriate ministry. If you wish to donate to any of the following needs please make checks payable to OSUMC (Mail to: 701 E Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg IL 60194 Attn: Martha Walker)

We hope to have our web-page up within the next couple of weeks. I will announce the Http address very soon. Many thanks to all who have helped to make this happen. Our January trip is coming closer. This trip is unique and exciting to say the least. This trip will include a team of artists, photographers and audio/ video journalists who will capture the essence of what we are doing in media format. It is our hope to bring this story and cause to schools, galleries, churches, and other locations for better exposure.
Education in Haiti is essential. Our dream is to support one school at a time. With this being our first school project, we are walking through very new territory. Your support and encouragement has been overwhelming. It is our hope to secure sponsorship for all 26 teachers for at least one year, build a new and safe school for the children of COLLEGE SUR LE ROCHER, create ways to help them become self supporting, and reach out to another educational system in need.
